Mother's Day, Sean's Birthday...and a trip to the ER!

It's been a while since I last blogged, but I'm back with a renewed enthusiasm. I promise to try my hardest to keep up with this thing from now on!

Let's see...where do I begin? Bella is now 9.5 months old. She's crawling and standing on her own, and has even started to take small steps while holding onto her toys or the sofa. I think we'll have a walker on our hands sometime in the very near future! She's had a rough last few months: The end of March found us dealing with her first ear infection(s). And being the overachiever that she is, she managed to get an ear infection in both ears at the same time! The ear infection stuck around through the month of April so she's pretty much been on antibiotics off and on for a month. And to top it all off, she managed to come down with pink eye at the end of April. And since she's such a giver, she made sure to give the pink eye to several of her friends at school (sorry Tyson, Ben and Reese!). Now we're in May and she's got a cough, thanks to lovely Houston allergies. Poor thing! Her 9 month checkup is next week (yes...a bit late!) so hopefully we'll get the all clear from the doc next week. Fingers crossed!

This weekend was a big weekend in the Aguilar house. My dad drove down to visit -- he hadn't seen Bella since Christmas so it was an extra exciting visit. I was worried about how Bella would act -- lately, she's been a bit skittish about letting other people hold her. But luckily, Bella was great! She gave my dad lots of hugs and cuddles. It was really cute to watch!! Saturday night Sean and I had plans to attend a fundraiser at Bella's school, but Sean apparently didn't really want to go so he decided to sprain his ankle early Saturday morning while running at Memorial Park. This would virtually guarantee that he wouldn't have to go, right? His ankle was pretty swollen and the emergency room doc gave him crutches to walk on. By Saturday evening, Sean's ankle was hurting him pretty good, so thankfully my mom agreed to go as my date. She was headed down our way, anyway, as she was going to watch Bella for the evening for us. So, mom and I headed out and ended up having a pretty good time at the auction. As I write this, I'm awainting final confirmation that I won a sweet BBQ/Outdoor Fun set. It's got a little bit of everything: BBQ grill, grilling accessories, a gift certificate to Hebert's Meats, scooters, water guns, bubbles, swim accessories...EVERYTHING!

Sunday was my first Mother's Day and it was such a great day! My mom spent the night with us on Saturday night so she was able to be with us on Sunday morning. We all got up and went to breakfast at Buffalo Grill...but not before getting my gifts!! Sean gave me a gorgeous necklace from RedEvelope.com. It's a round silver medallion with a script "I" on it, along with a tiny ruby birthstone (which is Bella's birthstone). He also got me a great framed picture that says "I love you mommy" and has Bella's handprints and footprints along with a picture of me and my #1 girl. He also gave me a picture frame that says "Mom makes fun happen". Coincidentally enough, my mom got me the very same picture frame. It was quite comical once we realized this! Oh well...that just gives me one for home and one for work! After breakfast my mom headed home and I, unfortunately, had "chores" today since my dear husband was pretty much immobile. Oh well...it was still one of the best days I've had in a long time. One for the memory books, for sure. I enjoyed having my mom there so much that we've decided to make it an annual thing. YAY!

Today is Sean's 37th birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVE - and we'll be celebrating it at home. But tomorrow we'll be celebrating it with my mom and sis, which will be fun. Sean woke up this morning and got his birthday gifts - a tie that had been painted by Bella (still work to do on it) and tickets to watch the Dodgers play the Angels...in LA! That's right...we're heading to LA at the end of this month to watch a game at Dodgers Stadium! The trip was a complete surprise to Sean. I actually managed to sit on this secret for over a month which, for those who know me, is HUGE!!! It took him a second to figure it all out, but I think he really liked his gift. Unfortunately, the trip means leaving Bella with my mom for 3 nights. We've never been away from her that long, but I know she'll have a blast at grammie's house, and Sean and I will definitely enjoy ourselves in the city of Angels!!

I think that's enough of an update for now...will try harder to keep up with this thing in the future.

Love to all!
